Deep in the forest, just after a violent rainstorm had passed, the river had swollen, fast-moving and dangerously turbulent. While playing along the slippery riverbank, PUGGY accidentally fell into the water. The current was fierce. It struggled with all its strength, but was quickly swept farther downstream, its life hanging by a thread.
At that critical moment, a snow-white rabbit appeared on the shore. Without the slightest hesitation, it leapt into the river and swam desperately toward PUGGY. Grabbing the little dog by the back of the neck, it used every ounce of strength to drag it back to safety.
Once they reached the shore, the rabbit gently dried PUGGY off, carefully dressed its wounds with vines and leaves, and then shared its treasured fruit with it. This selfless act of rescue not only saved the little dog’s life, but also planted the seed of a deep and lasting friendship.
From that day on, PUGGY and the rabbit became inseparable companions. They chased each other through the forest, played together, gathered fruit, napped side by side, and shared every peaceful moment in each other’s company.
But that peace was soon shattered.
One day, a cunning hunter slipped into the forest and set traps in the undergrowth. Tragically, the rabbit was caught. PUGGY could only watch helplessly as its friend was seized, locked inside an iron cage, and hauled onto a truck. It ran wildly and barked frantically, but could do nothing except watch the hunter disappear down the forest road.
Still, it refused to give up.
PUGGY chased after the truck along the woodland path, panting and exhausted, until it finally came across a forest patrol vehicle on a road deep in the woods. Barking nonstop, running ahead, and constantly looking back to signal the way, it eventually succeeded in drawing the officers’ attention.
Following PUGGY’s lead, the police pressed on and finally intercepted the hunter’s vehicle at a fork in the road. The illegal traps were dismantled on the spot, the rabbit was freed, and the hunter paid the price for his actions.
PUGGY sat quietly beside the patrol car, watching as its friend was released from the cage, its eyes filled with tenderness.
At the end of the story, the rabbit came running toward PUGGY and threw itself into its arms. These two little animals—once bound by a moment of rescue in the river—now held each other tightly beneath the forest sunlight, tears mingling with joy, proving once again that kindness is never forgotten.
This is a journey of gratitude, a full circle of friendship. Once, it was the rabbit who jumped into the water to save PUGGY. Now, PUGGY, through courage and determination, has saved its friend from the cage. This is the truest expression of repaying kindness in full.
