The story opens with a heart-stopping chase. Deep in the shadowy forest, a little girl runs along a thorn-covered path, clutching her dog, PUGGY, tightly in her arms. Behind them, a roaring black bear charges in pursuit, its eyes burning with wild fury.
At last, they are driven to the edge of a cliff. Behind them is certain death, and before them, only the abyss. As the bear lets out a furious roar, the girl holds PUGGY as tightly as she can and leaps.
With a scream of pure terror, they plunge together into the bottomless gorge.
The freezing lake below swallows everything. The girl sinks into the depths and never wakes again. But PUGGY, driven by the instinct to survive, is carried by the current to the shore, where it collapses on the muddy forest ground, barely alive—the only survivor of the disaster.
Then, a snow-white rabbit quietly appears.
Like a guardian spirit of the forest, it gently touches PUGGY’s body with its nose, checking for signs of life. It does not leave, and it does not hesitate. Instead, it lowers itself and struggles to carry PUGGY on its back, moving forward little by little.
Soon, rain begins to fall. The rabbit finds a large leaf to shield PUGGY from the rain. It leads the dog to a warm cave, builds a fire from branches, prepares food, and wraps PUGGY in a soft blanket. Then it holds the little dog close in its arms, using its own body to share warmth.
Under the rabbit’s care, PUGGY gradually recovers. The two become friends and begin traveling through the forest together. But in PUGGY’s eyes, there is always a sadness too deep for words.
Until one day, it suddenly stops in the woods and lets out a low, grieving whimper.
It recognizes the place.
Slowly, PUGGY walks toward a hillside—the very place where the girl fell. Among tangled vines and broken branches, it finds its owner’s remains. That cold skeleton is all that is left of the person it loved most.
PUGGY lies beside her in silence, crying without a sound. The rabbit stands nearby, equally silent. Then, without a word, it picks up a small shovel and begins digging a grave.
Together, they bury the girl.
PUGGY gently pushes the soil with its paws, while tears fall one by one onto the earth. The rabbit places a small gravestone at the site, and PUGGY, seeing the girl’s portrait on it, slowly moves closer.
In the final scene, PUGGY wraps its front paws tightly around the gravestone, as if it never wants to let go again. The wind passes softly through the silent forest, and in that moment, it finally completes its last act of devotion to the one it loved most.
This is a journey of survival, loss, mourning, and release. With all the tenderness in its heart, PUGGY gives the deepest and most heartfelt farewell.
