In this world where fantasy and reality intertwine, PUGGY arrives at the beginning of the third journey of its life. The baby it once saved from a plane crash has now grown into a healthy and lively little boy. Out of gratitude, the boy’s family adopts the heroic little dog. Together, they live in a bright and sunny seaside town. On the beach, the boy and PUGGY run through the soft sand, roll around, and build sandcastles together, creating what seems like a perfectly natural fairy tale of happiness.
But an accidental moment causes that beautiful life to fall apart.
While playing, PUGGY accidentally sits down and crushes the sandcastle the boy had worked so hard to build. To a young child, it was the result of all his effort and pride. Unable to understand that it was only an accident, the boy breaks down in tears. PUGGY tries to come closer to comfort him, but the crying boy glares at him and pushes him away. Then PUGGY watches as the boy runs toward a sports car waiting in the distance without ever looking back. The boy jumps into the seat, and the car door slams shut with a heavy bang—as if shutting PUGGY completely out of his world as well.
The engine roars, and the car speeds away in a cloud of dust. PUGGY freezes for a moment, then bolts after it, desperately chasing the fading silhouette of the car. It runs with all its strength, its short legs pushing forward as hard as they can, but its loyal steps can no longer catch up with the cold, unfeeling wheels. In the end, the sports car disappears beyond the horizon, leaving PUGGY standing alone on the empty road, letting out a cry of utter despair.
Having lost its home, PUGGY becomes a stray dog.
On stormy nights, it shivers beside garbage bins. In filthy alleyways, it licks at scraps mixed with muddy water. The bright, lively eyes it once had gradually grow dim and empty. But it never gives up hope. Guided by its longing for home and its unwavering loyalty to the boy, it struggles its way back to that familiar neighborhood.
When it finally drags its scarred and exhausted body back to the windowsill, the sight inside shatters its heart completely.
In the boy’s arms is a lively, healthy Border Collie, and on his face is a joy PUGGY has not seen in a long time. The warmth that once belonged only to PUGGY has now been given to someone else. PUGGY does not bark. It does not tap on the window. It only stands there silently for a moment, then turns and walks back into the rain.
Step by step, it makes its way onto the city expressway in the stormy night. The rain beats against its body, as if washing away its final attachment to the world. Its eyes are hollow, and its steps are slow and heavy.
Then a beam of headlights cuts through the darkness. Tires screech sharply.
And the world falls silent again.
When PUGGY becomes aware once more, it is already on the other side of life. Yet in its final thoughts, the one that comes to mind is not the boy who abandoned it, but the girl who held tightly to its photograph even in death—MOMO.
She walks toward it through a sunlit garden filled with purple flowers, dressed in a pure white dress. Gently, she kneels down and gathers PUGGY into her arms, softly brushing away the mud and wounds from its body. She places a tender kiss on its forehead.
At last, PUGGY closes its eyes in peace, resting in her warm embrace. There is no more sorrow on its face now—only eternal serenity.
